Movie Review: Thor

Well, it turns out in the end, Thor is really just a story about love. No seriously. The last 15 minutes or so is The Matrix meets Hercules without good music, deep existentialistic complications, or that guy who does the voice of Hades.

And Amanda Tapping makes a better astrophysics than Natalie Portman any day. Though I'm still a Natalie Portman fan. I'm a firm believer that she just gets the worst lines possible because she seems like she tries so hard!

That being said, parts of the movie were enjoyable. Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston, above left), for example, made a great villain because, for reasons I cannot say due to spoilers, makes quite a few totally unpredictable moves throughout the movie. And the sidekicks are a great bunch - especially Jamie Alexander, an under-apreciated favorite actress of mine since her days on Kyle XY. Yes, someone watched that show. It was great.

Yeah, it's good for a fun movie night. But watch out - if you have any knowledge or respect for astrophysics your ears might bleed a little. And be prepared for some cheese. Also, some subtle Avengers references and nice eye candy. But mostly cheese.

Final Rating:
SciFy = D +
It mostly sucks, but the plus is because I do understand they're constrained to Thor cannon from the comics.
...is for Lovers = B -
It's a cheesy, instant connection romance, but they have a surprising amount of chemistry
